Being home schooled may sound weird to a lot of people, but I think it is such a blessing that my Mom is my teacher. Here are some reasons why we don't do public school.
1. There are more godly influences. If your home schooled and in a house that follows Christ, you don't see and hear many of the many of the bad behaviors that can affect you. Home schooling can create a safer environment.
2. In school, there is no real discipline during the day. Sure there's detention, but for some things, the parents need to discipline you. with the rod or otherwise. My Dad used to teach detention, only it's called, R.A.C. He had some REAL KNUCKLE HEADS in there! For a lot of those kids, they don't learn. When they serve their time, they just get in trouble again.
3. You're with your family. YOUR family. You do school with your brothers and sisters in the same room. Not divided into different grades. At home, you get to interact with your siblings! You get to stay home with Mom! Quality family time!
4. You're not gone all day. If I do my school work and not get distracted, I can get it done in, at the most, three hours. Three, hours. All in the middle of that, you can take a thirty minute brake here and there. You help with breakfast, lunch, getting kids down for naps, and cleaning up a bit. And usually, there is ALWAYS some free time.
Alright, that's part one. Part two is going to be about what I do in homeschooling. See you then!
